FILMING FOR SPECIAL FEATURES

This is a screen print from a shoot we did on December the 19th 2011. With filming almost completed, George the main actor (to the left of the image) and I sat down to discuss the project as a whole. Ranging from the initial idea, to the small details I have tried to include. All for the Special Features aspect of the CD.

We filmed by a green screen, this means that on Adobe After Effects I will be able to delete the green and have George and I sitting in front of various art work created for the project, and parts of the film that we will be discussing. In this shot you can also see the boom mic which we used to record all of the sound.

CD DESIGN ADVANCED

After looking at many different CD's Most of them have small righting on them to cover the rights for the song. On mine I have had to mention that all rights are reserved for 2011 universal and Geffen records and the band blink 182.

COLOUR CORRECTION

When I filmed my footage, I found that lots of the colours and lights were 'too harsh' and they did not look natural within the film. Also The theme of the video is quite dark and sad, and bright colours did not fit in with the idea of the video.

I found out how to 'Colour correct' through online tutorials on the website 'Video Copilot'  I found out that to make the effect to work, you add a grey filter over the footage, you select this by going on video effects. You have to alter the opacity of this filter, and it gives the appearance of toning down the light and colour. I then altered the 'RGB curves' and moved the Red, Greens and Blues until the shots looked more natural.

FILMING

This is a shot from my set, filming for my music video. In that day we shot George the guy in the video going mad in his room. In this I am just setting up for a shot, where we I threw paper in front of the camera as George storms past.

EDITING THE BACK TRAY

This is the image I have been working on for the image that will be at the back of the CD case. I wanted this image to continue with the black and white theme. However for the back cover I felt it would be better to have a less 3D photo. The simplicity of this image therefore works well. It also made it easier to fit in the bill board with the band picture in.

When I initially saw the picture of the band I was desperate to fit it in somewhere in the art work because it was so full of energy and movement. I initially had the whole back tray black and white, apart from that image, which was in colour. After sorting feedback I was suggested that perhaps making the image look as if it was real, I could make it fit in with the black and white sketch, and this has worked, and looks far better in my opinion.
Above is the original screen shot from the band footage.

Above is the edited image of the band performance that is in-keeping with the rest of the art work.

DESIGNING THE CD

This is a picture of the CD design for Neighbourhoods, the album which 'Up all Night' is the single for. This album was released in September 2011, but contains the same Logo created for Blink 182 back in 2003. The arrows for the Neighbourhoods CD are different to those of the original logo. After Blink 182 reformed an extra arrow was added, representing their sixth studio album. Because 'Up all Night' is the single for this album, I have made sure that the logo has 6 arrows, rather than the original 5.

This is a picture of the original CD design of Blink 182's Untitled album back in 2003, again with the smiley logo. This CD is pink because it represents a more colourful and angst ridden album. By looking at the recent Blink 182 CD's it seems like they use the same logo, but in the style of that particular album.
Because The theme of my artwork is a black and white sketch theme I have decided to bring this theme to the Logo on the CD design. This is therefore in-keeping with the theme that has been created by having the Logo on all the Cd's
