FILMING

On Wednesday the 12th of October, I filmed the stage performance part of my video. With help of others I spent an hour and a half transforming the stage to my set.

I wanted a 'raw' look and feel for the stage. In the test I liked having the lighting rig in camera, rather than hiding them from the stage. I also decided I didn't want to hide the 'on stage smoke machine' as I felt the clutter on the stage made it feel more atmospheric. Along with these, I placed guitar and bass amplifiers on the stage, and I plugged the guitar in to these.

Once we were all in costume, and everyone was ready to shoot, we did a sound check with the drummer. We altered the volumes of the music so that we could here the music without the drums drowning out all of the noise. To help this I placed speakers on the stage, playing the song loudly, and next to me.

I taught 2 students how to work the hand help smoke and wind machines, and instructed them at which points of the song I wanted smoke and wind on the stage.

My friend is highly knowledgeable on the lighting rig we had in front of the stage. I took my treatment to him, and  we talked through the story, and I told him how I wanted the lights to work.

Finally we were ready to shoot, and we were filming for about 4 hours, and this has left me with lots of stock footage to put towards my music video.
